New Testing

Our New Testing encompasses all the major areas of anatomic and clinical pathology including FISH and flow cytometry interpretation

Recent advancements in genetic and molecular-based sciences have further allowed us to gain more information about specific diseases. Here at ECPA we have utilized the latest technology available to provide the most up-todate and cutting edge diagnostic advantage to our clients. Techniques such as fluorescence in situ hybridization and quantitative computer-generated Immunohistochemistry analysis are just a few of the diagnostic aids available at ECPA's disposal.

Urovysion™Urovysion™ is a noninvasive test run on a simple urine sample. Using fluorescence in situ hybridization urothelial cells shed in the urine are analyzed for specific genetic changes. These changes are highly correlated with early detection of bladder cancer. Urovysion™ is intended for use as a non-invasive method for the diagnosis and monitoring of tumor recurrence in conjunction with cystoscopy in patients either suspected of having or previously diagnosed with bladder cancer. The results of this assay should be interpreted in association with other pathology data.

VIAS™ECPA also utilizes the latest advancements in Immunohistochemistry. With specific regard to breast cancer diagnosis and prognosis we currently utilize the VIAS™ computer-assisted quantitative breast panel. After the breast cancer is diagnosed the tissue is stained with prognostic antibodies consisting of estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor and HER 2/neu. The staining patterns are then analyzed quantitatively via computer-based image analysis. The staining intensity and quantity of cells showing antibody reactivity allows us to provide prognostic and valuable information regarding chemotherapeutic selection.

VIAS™Additionally through Flow Cytometry, fluorescence in situ hybridization and cytogenetic studies we are able to further classify many hematopoietic diseases. The valuable information gained by these specialized testing modalities aids us in the diagnosis of malignancies, potential chemotherapeutic success and prognostic information. We currently have the availability to interpret such tests and provide most results on these highly specialized tests within a couple of days.
